The fine print.

Before you go to South Africa, there are a few things you should be aware of:

Criminal Record Bureau Checks:

As we are a charity, registered in the UK, all participants including volunteers and trustees must complete a thorough CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check. This is to guarantee that all volunteers on the Dramatic Need program have no history of child abuse. The children's wellbeing and safety is of utmost importance to us and no one can participate in the programme without a CRB check. The checks cost between £10 and £30. We will organise them for you and cover the fee, but they must be completed before you depart. If you are a volunteer from the USA you need to apply for a ‘Good Conduct Certificate’ from your local police station. If you are volunteering from elsewhere then please contact your local police station to find out what equivalent certificate can be obtained.

Travel Insurance:

We require that all our volunteers take out extensive personal travel insurance BEFORE they leave. You will be travelling to South Africa/ Rwanda at your own risk and we will ask you to sign a disclaimer form confirming this.

Immunisation:

We recommend you speak to your health care professional about any relevant inoculations you might need. South Africa does not require any specific immunisation plan, although if you intend to travel to areas around the Kruger National Park, malaria prevention is recommended.

Further information on immunisation in South Africa.

In Rwanda the following immunisations are recommended: (we recommend that all volunteers going to Rwanda visit their travel heath clinic 4-8 weeks before departure)
