Seboko's story.

Seboko 'Phillemon' Morobi is an 18 year old student from Viljoenskroon South Africa.

Dramatic Need first met Seboko Morobi in May 2008 when he took part in a Dramatic Need/World Film Collective film-making workshop. Seboko was born without his left hand. His parents christened him 'Morobi' Which means 'broken' - a name he doesn't choose to use. His mother died of HIV/AIDS when he was ten and he does not know where his father is. Seboko copes with a disability in an environment where even able-bodied children live very hard lives. From the very beginning Seboko impressed his Dramatic Need tutors with his natural enthusiasm and ability.

Within a week Seboko was competently editing and directing films - all this having never seen a film himself! At the end of the workshop, judged to be the best film-making student we had ever taught, Dramatic Need arranged for Seboko to apply for an internship at top Johannesburg media firm Design Republic. He had never been to Johannesburg despite the fact it was only two hours drive from his home. Design Republic accepted Seboko! Dramatic Need is now fundraising to help get him there.

To read more about Seboko see Dramatic Need trustee Danny Boyle's article in the Times. Please help us get Seboko to be able to take his internship - show your support by buying a Dramatic Need t-shirt and send a good luck message to Seboko.
